Group show organised by the Belvédère collective

27 Jan - 5 Feb 2022 : Je n’y crois pas mais c’est vrai, (I don't believe it but it's true) invites visual artists, tattooists and designers to highlight and question the place these objects occupy in their practice and/or in their everyday lives. Grigris, amulets and ritual objects tell a (subjective) story about the (relative) relationship between these objects and what we choose, or choose not, to believe.

Our daily lives are filled with objects, practices and rituals that give us rhythm and reassurance. Whether it's an amulet tucked away in a pocket, a wall decoration hanging above a door or intimate, quasi-ritual habits that make us feel good, there are barely perceptible forms of belief hidden behind the objects and practices of everyday life.

‘Je n'y crois pas mais c'est vrai’ invites visual artists, tattooists and designers to highlight and question the place that these objects occupy in their practice and/or in their everyday lives. Intimate or staged, borrowed from the past or derided, grigris, amulets and ritual objects tell a (subjective) story about the (relative) relationship between these objects and what we choose, or choose not, to believe.
